Job Title: Product Development Mechanical Engineer
Job Description: We are looking for a motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our Product Development team. This position is responsible for leading the design and development of innovative agricultural ventilation products from concept through production.
The ideal candidate is a creative, hands-on engineer who enjoys solving mechanical problems, building prototypes, testing ideas, and seeing products become reality. This role combines mechanical design, project management, product testing, and collaboration with manufacturing to bring new products to market quickly.
Our engineering team operates in a fast-paced environment where new ideas are encouraged, decisions are made quickly, and engineers have the freedom to take ownership of projects and drive innovation.
Essential Duties: Lead Product Development Projects
• Manage new product development projects from concept through production launch.
• Develop project timelines and coordinate activities across engineering, manufacturing, purchasing, and suppliers.
• Take ownership of project success, including technical performance, schedule, and design quality.
• Present concepts, design reviews, and project updates to engineering leadership.
Mechanical Design
• Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
• Create production-ready models, drawings, and Bills of Materials.
• Design products using sheet metal, plastics, machined components, and fabricated assemblies.
• Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses and component selection.
Prototype & Product Validation
• Design and build prototypes to validate new concepts.
• Develop and execute engineering test plans.
• Evaluate prototype performance and refine designs based on test results.
• Perform engineering calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) where appropriate to support design decisions.
Manufacturing Support
• Work closely with manufacturing to ensure products transition smoothly into production.
• Resolve production issues and implement engineering improvements as needed.
• Support suppliers during component development and production.
• Participate in design reviews focused on manufacturability, quality, and cost.
Continuous Product Improvement
• Identify opportunities to improve existing products for performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
• Investigate product failures and perform root cause analysis.
• Support field testing at company test sites and validate product performance under real-world conditions.
• Use customer and service feedback to drive future product improvements.
Qualifications: Required
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 2+ years of mechanical design or product development experience
• Proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong communication and organizational skills
