Job Description: The Production Shift Supervisor serves as a highly active, hands-on leader responsible for the immediate and efficient execution of the production schedule. This role requires dual accountability: ensuring the proper setup, organization, and efficient running of production lines while simultaneously performing critical operator duties. The Supervisor will utilize resources and equipment in the safest and most effective manner to consistently meet high quality and production standards.

Essential Duties: This position is responsible for leading the shift while actively performing operator functions, monitoring equipment, and adjusting process parameters to ensure manufactured products consistently meet customer specifications and internal criteria.

Main Responsibilities:

I. Active Operational Leadership (Hands-On)

Lead by Example: Maintain a positive attitude while promoting a safe, respectful, and productive environment for all team members.

Direct Line Operation: Directly participate in the operation and monitoring of the continuous production line, making real-time adjustments to processing parameters (recipes, flow, steam, etc.) as needed to maintain product specifications, quality, and production flow.

Critical Equipment Management:

Perform and oversee the start-up of Steam Generators and Air Compressors.

Verify water quality during Steam Generator start-up.

Select and execute Cerex process parameters (recipes), including cold start procedures.

Verify and manage raw material quality (seed selection and lot numbers, seed moisture, and density checks) before and during loading for production.

Changeover & Setup: Independently set up, perform, and supervise product changeovers, ensuring the line is quickly and accurately prepared for new products.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Proactively maintain and troubleshoot pre-set production lines to quickly resolve issues and minimize downtime.

WIP Management: Operate necessary heavy equipment (forklift and raw seed hoist) to fill, remove, and document WIP supersacks and totes.

General Production: Perform any other hands-on activities related to the production and packaging of milled and puffed products.

II. Quality, Compliance, and Administrative Supervision

Quality Assurance: Perform final-level quality inspections, document all process checks, and record any deviations.

Documentation & Reporting: Complete, verify, and submit all production paperwork, including providing concrete recommendations for resolving systemic process or equipment issues.

Safety & GMP Compliance: Monitor the team's adherence to GMPs, health, and safety guidelines. Actively assist in monitoring compliance with food safety standards and immediately report and address any concerns to management.

Housekeeping: Ensure the team maintains a clean and organized work area throughout the shift, verifying end-of-shift cleanup procedures are followed.

Adhere to GMPs, health, and safety guidelines as outlined in quality and food safety procedures.

Perform general housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Minimum 5+ years of experience in a lead operator, shift lead, or supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of both production and packaging lines, including complex machinery start-up procedures, critical parameter adjustments, and troubleshooting.

Proven ability to communicate effectively with both direct reports and management, including issuing clear instructions and compiling concise shift reports.

Ability to handle minor team conflicts, motivate staff, and enforce company policies.

Proven ability to accurately complete, review, and verify production logs and quality control documentation.

Current certification to operate forklifts and powered pallet jacks.

Basic proficiency with computer systems for data entry, accessing production schedules, and using maintenance request software.

Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership and accountability to shift output, quality outcomes, and team performance.

Ability to perform high level tasks and hands on labor simultaneously under time sensitive deadlines.
